Justine Torres

Justine Torres

My name is Justine Torres. I'm a sophomore at Bishop Moore Catholic High School, and I currently uphold the position of Nigerian Partnership Chair for Bishop Moore's IBIP Medical Team. I'm extremely passionate about real-world issues concerning environmental sustainability and thus enjoy lending my talents and abilities to resolve global concerns. I consider myself to be passionate, rational, and hard-working about a wide variety of topics, which is reflected in the numerous extracurricular clubs and activities of which I'm an active member. At Bishop Moore, I'm involved in numerous organizations, my favorites being the Black and Gold Brigade (marching band) and Liturgical Ensemble (chorus). I have a love for music and find it rewarding and exhilarating to be part of a team whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I'm also an active member of my school's Hornet House of Representatives and Leadership team, which allows me to be involved in a number of service projects in my surrounding community. I have an avid interest in the field of medicine, which translates through my membership in my school's Hippocratic Society. In short, I have many passions, and my goal is to use the gifts I have and the qualities I possess to help people and ultimately make the world a better place to live.

At Bishop Moore, I am involved with the leadership team and marching band. Outside of Bishop Moore, I am also involved as a current Star scout in my troop. I take honors and AP classes and am on the principal’s honor roll. In my free time, I like to be with my friends, watch, soccer, and play soccer. I consider myself to be an extroverted and breezy person. I also pride myself in my work ethic and tenacious, above all other things, instilled in me by my supportive family and friends. I do not yet know what career path I would like to go into, but I like learning about things, especially science. God has given me many gifts, and I can’t wait to show the world what I can do with them!

My name is Christopher Karle. I live in Ridgefield, Connecticut and will be graduating from Immaculate High School in 2022. I am passionate about health, wellness, and sustainability, so I founded Head2Toe where we donate hand-knitted baby hats to hospitals and community centers to support the health of infants; made adult hats from recycled cloth to improve the wellness of the homeless through the Midnight Run Organization; and recycle gently used shoes to Soles4Souls to outfit people in poverty-stricken areas both domestically and internationally. I received the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education Student Leadership Award for my diplomacy, ability to work with others, willingness to take on challenges, and ability to honor commitments (2018). I am an active member of Lions Heart, a community service based group, where I have earned both the Bronze and Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award for 50 and 100+ hours of service respectively (2017, 2018). I have also been a Peer Mediator for 3 years. Athletically, I am a member of the GMS Rowing Club. Learning to row has taught me perseverance, hard work, and teamwork. I strive to use my knowledge and skills to work collaboratively with my team and our business partner. I am honored to work with the International Business Internship Program and to participate in the International Leadership and Business Summit in order to provide creative solutions to our Nigerian partners
