Class of 1992
Class of 2002
Class Of A Long Time Ago
Class Of 1218
My name is Christopher Karle. I live in Ridgefield, Connecticut and will be graduating from Immaculate High School in 2022. I am passionate about health, wellness, and sustainability, so I founded Head2Toe where we donate hand-knitted baby hats to hospitals and community centers to support the health of infants; made adult hats from recycled cloth to improve the wellness of the homeless through the Midnight Run Organization; and recycle gently used shoes to Soles4Souls to outfit people in poverty-stricken areas both domestically and internationally. I received the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education Student Leadership Award for my diplomacy, ability to work with others, willingness to take on challenges, and ability to honor commitments (2018). I am an active member of Lions Heart, a community service based group, where I have earned both the Bronze and Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award for 50 and 100+ hours of service respectively (2017, 2018). I have also been a Peer Mediator for 3 years. Athletically, I am a member of the GMS Rowing Club. Learning to row has taught me perseverance, hard work, and teamwork. I strive to use my knowledge and skills to work collaboratively with my team and our business partner. I am honored to work with the International Business Internship Program and to participate in the International Leadership and Business Summit in order to provide creative solutions to our Nigerian partners
Our Business Partner: Restaurant Business
Business Owner: Deborah Obalohun
Business Location: State low cost, Opposite Kobi Cinema, Bauchi
Story of the Business
Deborah has always been a great cook and has always been told so by many. She loves cooking and has always helped friends and family to cook during birthday or wedding celebrations. She turned this into a profit making business for herself, owning her own business and bringing more income home for her children. The business is doing adequately well, with the production capacity of 30 to 35 plates per day. She hopes to eventually open up various branches of the restaurant all over Bauchi and to provide party and wedding catering services.
About the Owner: Deborah Obalohun
Deborah has been a widow for over 10 years now. Life has been difficult for her and her five children who she has struggled to ensure all get an education. The difficulties they face has been due to a lack of adequate financial income for her to meet their daily needs. Her meager teacher’s salary does very little for her and thus her desire to own a restaurant to help her and her children with the rising cost of living. She is very excited at the opportunity presented to her with Leadership Initiatives.
