Class of 2019

My name is Desiree Vasquez. I am a senior at Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout my 4 years of high school, I have participated in the most rigorous and challenging AP courses I could and have joined extracurriculars that allow me to express my interests.

Since my sophomore year, I have participated in Mock Trial which has given me the opportunity to learn about the law and how to be an attorney at such an early age. I am also involved in National Honors Society and Inspire Nevada which focuses on helping the community through volunteer service and engaging high school students towards participation in voting. I have also recently participated in Future Business Leaders of America which focuses on teaching students the world of business including how to handle money and learning about real world employment. I am also an Ambassador for my school which allows me to help freshman navigate through their next 4 years. Being an Ambassador allows me to set an exciting tone and allow me to represent the goals of my high school which are to put students on a successful academic path. Over the summer, I had the amazing opportunity to participate in Nevada girls state. The friendships and lessons about life I gained there are truly a unique experience and an amazing way to start my senior year believing in all I have accomplished and all that I have yet to achieve.

When it comes to joining an IBIP team my final year of high school, it was a no brainer for me because I was extremely interested in being able to kick start my path in the real world. I personally believe that we are here to be of service to others and we all have a personal responsibility to help anyone and everyone live their life with dignity and happiness. Through helping others be happy, we learn to be better individuals and learn to be happier individuals ourselves. Joining an IBIP, I believe, will give me the opportunity to help those people who need it and better humanity at my age even if it’s just making one person’s day better.

Class of 2020

My name is William McAdorey. I am currently a Junior at Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was born here in Las Vegas and have lived here for my entire life, though I also have family on the East Coast whom we visit frequently. My main program area at Advanced Technologies Academy is Architectural Design, but ever since I was young I have been fascinated with legal studies as well.

I am a member in our school’s Mock Trial team, an Ambassador in our schools Ambassador program, and a recognized member of the National Honors Society. Through NHS, I have assisted in numerous group events around our community with fellow members, one of my favorites being the Festival of Colors, a Hindu tradition where people form the valley come together to celebrate the arrival of Spring. I have personally helped tutor younger students as well.

I was captivated by the idea of IBIP.  The idea of solving real world problems for real people was very fascinating to me, and immediately grabbed my attention. With further research I learned what an amazing opportunity this could be, not for the college assistance but for the amazing real life experience we will gain and the opportunity to make a real change in the world at such a young age. All of this plus the fact I would be working will such amazing people, my peers and the people of the IBIP program, has had me really excited to join and has me looking forward to the great work we will be doing.

Class of 2020

My name is Emma Mayo and I am currently a Junior at Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of my interest include playing the piano, singing, dancing, and writing. I love to do research, and hope to pursue an education and career in the Legal Field.

I am a big believer in being heavily involved in the community and various extracurricular activities. Personally, I am a member of my school’s Hispanic Student Union, Bible Club, National Honor Society, and Mock Trial Team. I am also an Ambassador for my school. All of these various activities provide me with the opportunity to serve others in an educational environment. I have also taken a host of Advanced Placement classes in order to push myself to reach my ultimate potential. Besides these extracurriculars, I am an active member of my religious youth group.

I am absolutely delighted to be a member of the International Business Internship Program. This program is so incredible because it allows high school students like me an opportunity to try out business ventures in the ‘real world’ whilst helping others. This is also an amazing program because it helps me pursue my own personal interest in Legal Studies with a business-oriented mindset. But it all comes back to helping others. Serving can really make a difference in the life of someone else. And I want to be the kind of person involved in things that uplift and inspire others. My personal mantra is: Help the Teacher, Be a Good Example, Do Your Best Work, and Never Give Up. Leadership Initiative’s IBIP program will hopefully help me to accomplish my goals in this aspect.
